The Serie A team is in the process of finalizing an agreement for the leader of Lille and Amaju Pinnick is giving it to star in Italian football
Victor Osimhen is capable of having a similar impact on Napoli as Diego Maradona did, says Nigerian soccer boss Amaju Pinnick.
The highly-qualified 21-year-old forward is in the process of completing a move to Italy from Lille.
His signature has been highly coveted, but those from Naples seem to have won the race.
The president of the Nigerian Football Federation told Radio Kiss Kiss about a player with nine caps for the Super Eagles: “I think Victor Osimhen is an excellent signing for Napoli.
“I have followed them since they had Diego Armando Maradona. Naples is a proud city and also in football terms.
“Osimhen is a source of pride for African football. He is someone disciplined but focused on goals, and if he wants something, he knows how to get it.
Osimhen expects great things in the future, with 38 goals recorded in the past two seasons at Charleroi and Lille, and Pinnick believes he could “break the records” of a great historical record.
“We are talking about a player who won the World Cup [U-17] in Chile in 2016. I have already wished him the best.”
The deal that Napoli is establishing for Osimhen is said to be worth around € 60 million (£ 55m / $ 70m), with the Serie A team rejecting reports of rival interest from people like Liverpool and Arsenal.
