Cardi B Helps Acid Attack Victim In Dominican Republic Offering $10K Reward (watch video)

The Dominican rapper is putting up her own money to help find those responsible for throwing acid at a 19-year-old woman in the Dominican Republic.
It’s not uncommon for celebrities to use their platforms in a call for justice, and Cardi B is doing it for a young woman in the Dominican Republic. Yocairi Amarante Rodríguez, 19, had reportedly finished her shift at work and was on her way home when she was attacked by two people on a motorcycle. Investigators claim that the unknown assailants threw a liquid, known as “devil’s acid,” at Yocari that burned 40 percent of her body. Doctors also fear that she will go blind from the attack.

The toxic sulfuric acid-based substance is a well-known lethal weapon in the Dominican Republic, and Cardi is putting her money where her mouth is to help those in need. Many other Dominican artists are helping the victim financially, and Cardi has stated that she will personally give $ 10K to anyone who finds the people responsible for Yocairi’s injuries.

Security cameras captured the incident, but the faces of the suspects were not seen. “The patient no longer sees and is likely to lose her sight,” said Dr. Eddy Bruno, director of the burn unit at the Ney Arias Lora hospital in Santo Domingo Norte. “She is a patient in critical condition, with burns in 40% of her body surface, burned by chemicals. They’re pretty deep burns … We’re doing our best for her, but I repeat she’s a very critical patient. ”See Cardi’s post and a news segment on the attack below.
